As Kevin and I enter our almost 6th year of teaching the 11th - 12th grade Sunday School class, we've sent off yet another group of teens to college and career. This time of year is always difficult because over the course of those two years, we've become rather close with the kids..."our kids" as we like to call them. It's sad really when I peek in Mike Jones' (college/career) classroom and see "my kids" sitting alongside the other college and career kids. I just want to hang onto them a few more months. But, every year the same time they get promoted and we stay behind. *shedding a tear*Well, this weekend we indulged ourselves for the second year and planned a senior trip. Last year, we spent a week at the Outer Banks with the kids. This year we had to go shorter and closer to home. For various reasons, the main being Kevin's need for plenty of vacation time to share with all the youth trips he'll be chaperoning this summer. We ended up doing about four days in Surfside. We still had a great time even though we had to cut the trip short. The kids were great, we couldn't have asked for a better group of teens to hang out with for a trip to the beach. A few days being beach bums (and lots of sunburn), scarry late night movies, dessert runs, dinner at TGIF's, and a game of Put-Put pretty much summed up the weekend. Who wouldn't want to schedule that in their calendar?
